I woke up Thursday morning, December 9th. This morning, though…I woke up to a nightmare. Sadly, it was a nightmare that I knew would come to fruition. Carl Crawford just signed a few hours ago with the Boston Red Sox, a move that solidifies them as the best team in the league, having acquired 2 all stars [...]

The stage was set….like many northeast bar fights of the past between two unreasonable and obnoxious fans….Philadelphia vs. New York…..Phillies vs. Yankees. The wet dream for FOX had materialized. Would the matchup live up to its billing? I give you a big, giant, veiny “affirmative”. Game One brought us shear dominance by Philadelphia’s Cliff Lee [...]

Phillies vs. Dodgers Attempting to avenge last year’s loss in 5 games, the Dodgers once again meet up with the Phillies in the NLCS. This time, however, things may be different. After dominating and dumping the St. Louis Cardinals, widely considered by many experts to breeze through the National League playoffs, the Dodgers seem to [...]

After a dominating performance by Adam Wainwright, the Cardinals’ Matt Holliday choked away game 2 of the NLDS. This type of choke has rarely been seen before, except perhaps in bondage films. Then again, Dodger fans can only describe it as a gift. This gift was so generous; in fact, it reminded me of the [...]

Minnesota Twins vs. New York Yankees With the Yankees firmly owning the best record in baseball, they elected to have recently crowned AL Central Champion Minnesota Twins take a late night flight to New York, hoping to capitalize on their fatigue. It’s going to work. Without Justin Morneau, their best power hitter and operating on [...]

The stage is officially set for the greatest comeback within a comeback in Major League History. No other team had gone from 12 below .500 to 20 over .500 in the same season. Then there's the possibility of this week.
On Saturday, jus…

Should the Detroit Tigers do all they can to avoid having to pitch Justin Verlander on Sunday and save him for a playoff opener?

Last night on "Baseball Tonight," Buck Showalter expressed his belief that the Detroit Tigers needed to win the AL Central before Sunday, so they wouldn't have to use Justin Verlander for the season finale.&n…

We have, at times this season, debated whether the Cubs should have traded Mark DeRosa and whether he would have helped the club through its various injuries and lack of production. I don't want to rekindle anything… oh, what the heck. Yes, I do.
During last night's rain…

We recently took a look at how Placido Polanco has been as good as Lee, Ramirez and Soriano in his career. It’s quite surprising, but it is true. Polanco is a free agent this winter. He signed a 4-year deal for $18 million with the Tigers after the 2005 season.
His CHONE projection prior to this season was .303/.350/.406. He’s hit .287/.334/.402. That’s about league average, but Polanco is going to turn 34 years old in 8 days so his true skill level isn’t goi…
